I’ve decommissioned my remotelab.uk Mastodon server in favour of social.lol, I really like what they’re doing over there and had a similar idea for what I’d like remotelab to be. You can find me at mikebell@social.lol. There’s a new holding site up at https://remotelab.uk now.

I finally got around to fixing my ForgeJo runners, it turns out it was never broken but the dflook tofu actions weren’t playing nice. I decided to move away from them and move to more native ways of doing it. As an added bonus I even added in comments which are a work in progress. I have a working repo here if your interested in how I manage OpenTofu in ForgeJo. Next job is to move the runners to a new server, renovate currently looks to have a memory leak in my specific setup - when I profiled the memory usage you could see it happily ticking along until it starts eating up as much as possible and getting killed. I want to try and recreate it on another server before I log a bug report. One day I’ll be able to catch a decent VPS in Hetzner!

Update: I managed to upgrade the server to 16gb of ram and that fixed my issues. It took about 2 hours to deal with all the extra dependencies that got raised off the back of it working. Memory usage is peaking at 6gb now which explains why it was being killed on my old 4gb server.

I started briefly using PinePods synced with the Nextcloud podcast sync app (also synced with Atennapods on my phone). I didn’t get on with it, it’s very buggy and didn’t seem to sync properly. I’m still looking for a decent browser or linux/mac podcast app though. For now I’m sticking with Antennapods and just playing through my phones speaker when no one is around.

I’m also looking for a decent health tracker, something I can add blood pressure and weight details to and gives me nice graphs in return. I’m not interested in ones that come with any AI integration, which rules out some of the nicer looking vibe coded ones.

That’s about it for now! Thanks for reading.
